Chaos Cafe

January 26 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$10

This event is full, but you can submit your name on our waiting list and we will contact you if there is an opening.

Create with us a community of sharing and dialogue. Chaos cafe acknowledges our unpredictable global climactic balance and the resulting precariousness of our local economies and ability to meet our needs.

We gather to be present with our predicament- engaging our hearts and minds, and compassionately looking towards the future. We look towards re-establishing functional and reciprocal relationships with the basic elements that support life on our planet.

  • 4pm Ampersand seasonal show and tell
  • 4:30 Presentation and facilitated group discussion
  • 6:30 Potluck

This month we look at WATER.

How do the underground and above ground water supplies naturally cycle and replenish in our area?
Considering these very local conditions, what does responsible water use look like for our region?
How do we build or adapt our living environments to support this transition to embodying an appropriate relationship with the sacred gift of fresh water from our planet?

Hydrologist Dick Thomas will share with us his knowledge from studying and monitoring local water supply and movement for the past 40+ years. Although his professional career took him as far afield as Australia and the Middle East, he spent a large part of his career studying surface water and groundwater in New Mexico.  His avocation since moving to the Madrid area in 1968 has been to understand the groundwater and surface water of this area.
Dick would like to describe where our water comes from, to review of the nature and occurrence of water in this area, and would hope to remove some of the mystery surrounding groundwater.

$10 suggested donation per participant
