This day long intensive is for both beginners and those who have done a whole design course already. Study permaculture at a mature site where techniques can be pointed to and deep connection with the elements of a place is demonstrated. If you have your own project in mind, this class will deepen and stimulate your design process.
We will work with a few permaculture principles and observe them in action. Feel how they can change one’s perspective towards our goals and habitual or conditioned patterns of working and living. Permaculture can not be installed and called done. The design process points to life-ways that are in sync with the rhythms of a place and the cycles of local resources and gifts from the planet.
Social Permaculture points to our place in the web of community. We are not just designing for ourselves. We will investigate how our community interactions play a part in the design of our lives, and see if we can make everything more fun and flowing!
We will also look at tools used in Permaculture design and analysis. Once they are used a couple of times, they can become a perspective that will help your project and your life be more aligned with Permaculture’s ethics.
This course may include a lot of new material, but the individual and group exercises are designed to bring you deeper into your own process. It’s not about absorbing new information. It’s about the insights and inspirations that arise from reflecting on your personal context in new ways.
