Community Homestead Day

This Sunday from 11am to 2pm

This event is to call the diversity of our community to share in a village atmosphere of fun and productivity.  All ages are invited to join us for a casual day of solar cooking and earth building.  We will make some fun food in the parabolic cooker to give everyone the chance to try something we made ourselves, cooked by the sun!

Whether you want to try your hand at making smooth earthen walls, or just get started with mudpies, this is a chance to play in the mud together.  Plan to get dirty and make new friends!

Bring your own lunch, maybe something to share.

Parents: Yes, this is a great time to bring your kids to Ampersand!  Please be aware that stray children may find their way to our salvage yard or other locations that may prove dangerous if unsupervised.  We want everyone to be safe for our Community Homestead Day, so we request that you don't bring more than three kids that you can keep your eyes on.

This April 6th event is free!

There is still room in our Seeding the Dream Retreat May 9th to 11th

When Andy and I came back to New Mexico in 2002, there were a group of us old friends. We went to the Lama Foundation’s Build Here Now program, and tried out the community living and natural building thing for a week. We all were planning to get land together and explore co-housing/ intentional community. I cherished that dream- a band of us getting land together and exploring self sufficiency, economic stability, and community structure. Like a family.  Read more of this blog post on Community Homesteading...
