Natural Building and Earthen Plasters Sunday June 5, 10am to 4pm We love to build with earth at Ampersand! We have strawbale cottages covered with local earth plasters. We have a hybrid home made with rammed earth, strawbale, as well as post and beam with a framed attached greenhouse. Earthen building techniques are essential to every structure we have crafted at our site. We will tour these buildings and review how they were built from the ground up. See how we have used adobe bricks, cob, earthbags, earthen relief sculptures and finish plasters.
We will make an interior finish plaster using locally harvested soils as well as some purchased ingredients as we adapt a recipe from Carole Crews’ book Clay Culture . And we will apply it on the inside of a strawbale cottage. Check out Ampersand in this Green Building Blog!
