The internship is a very special time at Ampersand. It runs from May 23rd to July 18th. Our site comes to life as amazing folk gather for an intensive learning and community living experience. We share in a lifestyle that is abundant with the essentials.
Living with Ampersand’s sustainable systems is an education in itself. We also teach workshops that the public is invited to. The internship includes several day field trips that highlight local culture, innovation and sustainable practices. We schedule weekly for personal time and exploration. Read More...
"Ampersand helped me figure out what is possible to do as far as sustainable living and closed loop systems while on a budget. It turns out that you can do a lot more than I thought through innovation, imagination and a good attitude. Ampersand not only embodies positive change for the future of the environment, but also invites visitors, interns and neighbors alike to enjoy their optimistic, activist, and all around fun approach to change. I think Emma Goldman would have approved of Ampersand when she said, “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution.”

"Flying on a hunch across the USA to stay at Ampersand was the most revitalizing and empowering thing I’ve ever done. I’d still be there if they hadn’t convinced me I could change the world and deeply inspired me to do so. The community touched my spirit and turned my life around in ways I couldn’t have imagined." Madeleine Radke, 2010 Ampersand intern
