It's not brain surgery, but it's more than just knowing which direction is South.  Why don't they teach Passive Solar Design to all architects in the Southwest?  We don't know but harvesting the sun directly should be a foundation for all building design in our area.  Why use electricity producing Solar Panels to leave your lights on all day?  You could be using low-tech sunlight.  It's still free!

Passive Solar Design

Sunday, June 22
10am to 2pm

Learn to make best use of the sun for heating and cooling with the use of thermal mass, glazing, and well placed insulation. Familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of passive solar design for new structures, retrofits, and for boosting your common sense repertoire.

Check out the three different kinds of Solar Water Heaters we have on site. We will also cover Solar Dehydrators, Greenhouses and Trombe walls. Observe these different building techniques and useful technologies at work and learn the principles and formulas you will need to apply them to your own home. It could be as simple as using insulated curtains and cooling with the night air. More details...
