Permaculture and Spring Seeds

Hello Spring!

Okay, its not technically Spring but I start to feel a springyness when my first seeds in the greenhouse show their heads right about now.  And I know I'm not the only one who is planning for warm weather projects. Register now for Developing a Permaculture Practice on the 26th.  The workshop is designed to support your goals and projects for 2017.

Developing a Permaculture Practice

February 26, Sunday.  10am to 3pm

Effective change can start in a small and gentle way with the help of Permaculture's guiding principles. By exploring strategies like Optimizing the Edge and Making the Least Change for the Greatest Effect, we can work towards self sufficiency and community resilience.

While many of us agree with the ethics of Permaculture (Care for the Earth, Care for People, and Fair Share of Surplus), deepening our commitment to them can be best accomplished as a collective journey that takes community support.

Ampersand's site demonstrates many examples of Permaculture design and our experience with building community can offer insight. However, the right next steps for you will arise from your personal lifestyle and inspiration.

Find more ways to demonstrate this care for the earth and for people in a way that speaks to your spirit and adds a level of fulfillment to your life.

$50 per participant.  Discounts available.   RSVP to amanda@ampersandproject.org

We are now accepting applications for Work-Trade positions starting in April. More info here.
Indoor Seed Propagation

March 18th 10am to 3pm

Plant seeds early indoors! You can use a greenhouse, cold frame, or South facing window to get your garden sprouting despite snow on the ground outside. The factors to ensure germination and transplant success include timing, soil composition, and watering techniques. Learn how to stage indoor plantings so that your colder season veggies like spinach and lettuce and warm season ones like squash and tomatoes are ready for the garden when the climate is right. Try your hand at transplanting seedlings from flats into pots and develop your own planting calendar.

$50 Discounts available RSVP to amanda@ampersandproject.org

This year we are using our new greenhouse to grow more plants for you! We will have a plant sale April 2 and May 6 in Madrid, NM. In front of the Mine Shaft Tavern (Thank You!)
We are excited for these plant sales in April and May! In April we will offer lettuces, greens, and herbs that can be planted while there is still chance of frost.  In May we will provide the chiles, tomatoes, cukes, and other plants to fill out the garden for summer. We are growing many heirloom and native varieties that are specially adapted to our arid climate.
