Reports from Summer and Invitations!

*|MC:SUBJECT|*
You may not have heard from us for a while, but rest assured we have been busy growing food and working on projects.  It's amazing what can be done with four more hands and a couple more brains (and backs!). Rebekah and Adelaide have contributed so much towards this summer at Ampersand. It's been fun watching their skills grow- from cutting metal and wood to making land restoration rock structures to applying mud plasters. They have also made this place welcoming, intelligent, and beautiful for the visitors who have integrated with our community scene. What quality folk have joined us for varying periods of time through our retreat program!

And now we have a couple invitations for you. An earth plaster party, and a free online class.
The Flicker House is getting some upgrades! Like an opening window above the bed and a new coat of plaster. Plastering with our local clay is fun! And we have some fancy plans for beautifying this structure.

Join us Sunday August 25 from 10 to 4

People and Place

Amanda's latest blog piece

One day all our communities will be rooted in a particular place.

Again.

We are in an age of extinction, with dozens of species going extinct every day from human impact.

We witness the ecological systems that support life on earth falling apart.

We see the empire grasp for power on the brink of yet another collapse of another hierarchy.

Living lives supported by the last breaths of a dying civilization, we look towards a time when we will all just have each other. By that I mean look out your window. Who is there? Your neighbor, the burrowing rodents, the insects, the coyotes, the juniper trees, the concrete of the sidewalk. At some point, again, these will be our friends, our resources. The people and wildlife and the more quiet, still aspects of our surroundings will comprise the environment that we care about- the only place that we have is the place where we are.
