Sustainable Kitchens and Solar Cooking

Spend the day playing and feasting in Ampersand’s solar and sustainable outdoor kitchen. We will cook together in our favorite solar cookers and explore other self sufficient cooking and preservation methods.
Amanda will share about the range of solar cookers available, cooking techniques, appropriate cookware, canning in the solar oven, and safe temperature ranges. At the end of the day we will taste our solar creations.
Also learn about rocket stoves, solar dehydration, sprouting, and vegetable fermentation,and retained heat cooking. We will discuss how to integrate one or more of these sustainable kitchen ideas easily into your current life style. Bring your own recipe ideas and we will translate them for solar!
